Techies vs Warlock

How this matchup plays

Trying to land a big Chaotic Offering or channel Upheaval becomes much harder when Techies is in the game. The long-range silence from Blast Off! gives Techies a reliable way to interrupt Warlock at the most critical moment of a teamfight. This forces Warlock to be very careful with his positioning. Furthermore, Techies can litter the map with Proximity Mines, making it dangerous for Warlock's team to group up. This can reduce the effectiveness of Fatal Bonds, as opponents are naturally encouraged to keep their distance from one another to avoid triggering mines.

This dynamic puts the pressure on Warlock to secure vision and wait for Techies to commit his silence before attempting to use his ultimate. Techies, in turn, will often hold Blast Off! specifically to shut Warlock down, creating a tense standoff. The fight often comes down to which hero can act first. If Warlock gets his spells off, his Golem can still wreak havoc, but Techies' ability to preemptively disable the game's biggest spells gives him a consistent, if small, advantage across the map.
