Tidehunter vs Treant Protector

How this matchup plays

Trying to lock a fed Tidehunter down with Overgrowth often feels pointless. As soon as Tidehunter takes a bit of follow-up damage from your team, his Kraken Shell will purge the root, freeing him up to immediately counter-initiate with Ravage. This interaction can completely flip a teamfight that Treant Protector thought he had perfectly controlled. The same principle applies to Leech Seed in lane; the slow is unreliable against a hero who can shrug it off so consistently. Tidehunter is built to absorb damage and disable, which directly undermines Treant's main tools.

Across the game, this means Tidehunter usually gets to pick his fights. Treant Protector is forced into a tough choice: use Overgrowth on the tanky frontliner and watch him walk out of it, or try to catch squishier heroes in the back, leaving Tidehunter free to charge in. While Treant can still be effective by using Living Armor to sustain his other cores and catching them with his ultimate, he struggles to control the primary initiator on the enemy team. This gives Tidehunter's team an easier time starting fights on their own terms.
