Tidehunter vs Vengeful Spirit

How this matchup plays

Picking one of these heroes into the other often feels like a wash because their most important spells directly interfere with each other. Vengeful Spirit's Nether Swap is one of the best tools for saving an ally caught by Ravage, or for pulling Tidehunter himself out of position before he can use it. On the other hand, a Venge who swaps a core to safety often puts herself directly in the blast zone. This gives Tidehunter a perfect new target for that same Ravage. It’s a classic standoff where both ultimates can cancel each other out depending on timing and positioning.

Throughout the game, this creates a tense dynamic around teamfights. The Vengeful Spirit player has to decide whether to play far back to avoid the initial Ravage, or stay close enough to execute a save with Swap. For the Tidehunter player, the goal becomes baiting out the Swap on a less critical target or finding an angle where Venge herself is the primary target. Fights are frequently decided by which of these two players better anticipates the other's move, making the outcome of their direct interaction feel unpredictable from game to game.
