Undying vs Viper

How this matchup plays

Picking Viper into a draft with an Undying support is a decision that requires a lot of faith in your other four teammates. Viper wants to isolate and wear down a single hero, but Undying’s entire plan revolves around creating a chaotic, multi-unit brawl that Viper can’t handle. Decay makes the fragile Viper even squishier, while Tombstone floods the lane or fight with zombies he has no way to clear. Viper’s Nethertoxin, a key spell for shutting down heroes with passives, is completely wasted against Undying, who has none.

This problem gets worse for Viper as the game goes on. During mid-game teamfights, Undying drops Tombstone, activates Flesh Golem, and creates a massive zone of control. Viper is often the slowest hero in the fight and gets swarmed by zombies, making him an easy target. He either has to waste Viper Strike on a zombie or on the incredibly durable Undying himself. The only way Viper can function is if his team brings overwhelming area damage to instantly clear the Tombstone, otherwise he's a non-factor.
