Underlord + Techies

Why this works

Securing parts of the map can feel more straightforward with this duo. Underlord’s Pit of Malice provides a reliable root, creating a spot where Techies can stack Proximity Mines. An enemy caught in the pit is then forced to take damage from the mines, often combined with Underlord's own Firestorm. While this won't instantly delete tougher heroes, it makes specific locations very dangerous to walk into. This forces opponents to either find another way around or commit detection and spells to clear the area before a fight can even start.

This pairing often shines when defending high ground or setting up for an objective like Roshan. Underlord can use Fiend's Gate to bring Techies to a threatened lane, allowing for a rapid defensive setup that can stall a push. The opposing team has to play with this potential in mind, investing in constant detection and trying to split the map to avoid fortified zones. If the enemy team is coordinated and has good long-range heroes, they can dismantle the traps from a safe distance, which is why the advantage here is noticeable but not overwhelming.
