Underlord + Warlock

Why this works

Controlling the map and forcing objectives feels sluggish with this pair. Underlord and Warlock both offer big, area-denial spells, but they tend to overlap in purpose rather than build on each other. A target stuck in Pit of Malice is already rooted, making the slow from Upheaval less impactful. While the sustained damage from Firestorm spreads with Fatal Bonds, the combination lacks the burst or hard lockdown needed to secure kills on its own. They both do a good job of starting a fight and making a mess, but they struggle to provide the follow-up needed to finish it.

This leaves the team reliant on winning long, drawn-out teamfights where enemies are forced to stand in multiple damage zones. The problem is that good opponents won't do that. Without a reliable way to hold targets down for their slow-burn damage, enemies can often reposition, use a save item, or simply survive the initial control from Warlock and Underlord and then turn the fight. The lane might feel fine, but the combination has a hard time creating its own opportunities as the game goes on, instead hoping the enemy makes a mistake.
