Underlord + Windranger

Why this works

Catching a hero in Pit of Malice provides a solid setup for Windranger to land a Shackleshot. That's the main point of interaction, and while it's helpful, it's often the only one. Underlord’s whole kit is about controlling a big area and grinding down the entire enemy team with Firestorm and Atrophy Aura. He creates messy, drawn-out brawls. Windranger is the opposite; she excels at picking off a single, isolated hero with Focus Fire and then using Windrun to get away. Her damage is almost entirely single-target, so she can’t do much with a big multi-hero root from Underlord’s Pit.

This difference in purpose means they often want to be in separate parts of the map. Underlord tends to group up with his team, looking to push towers or use Fiend's Gate to force a big objective fight. Windranger, however, is a classic pick-off hero who prefers to play the edges of the fight or split the map to find a solo kill. Their game plans don't really line up. They don't necessarily hurt each other, but they don't offer much to enable one another beyond that initial root, making the pair feel a bit disconnected.
