Alchemist + Centaur Warrunner

Why this works

Charging into a teamfight with a Stampede-buffed Alchemist looks strong on paper. Alchemist can also accelerate his farm to provide Centaur Warrunner with an early Aghanim's Scepter, which offers some utility. The issue is that both heroes often want to fill the same role: a durable, front-and-center core who initiates and soaks up attention. Rather than covering each other's weaknesses, their strengths can feel redundant. Gifting the scepter also means Alchemist is delaying his own critical items that allow him to take over the map, potentially weakening his most important timing window.

This often leads to a lineup that feels a bit one-dimensional in the mid-game. You have two very tanky heroes, but you might lack the specific tools needed to win fights, like sustained lockdown or backline burst damage. An enemy team can often split their focus, kite the two frontliners, or simply overwhelm the rest of your team. While the duo is far from non-functional, their kits don't amplify each other in the way other hero pairings can, leading to a game plan that is sometimes less flexible and less potent than it appears.
