Why this works

Picking these two heroes together creates one of the game's most reliable kill setups. Grimstroke's Soulbind means that Alchemist’s single-target Unstable Concoction will land on two enemy heroes, often leading to a double kill from a safe distance. For closer engagements, Grimstroke can cast Ink Swell on an allied Alchemist, giving him the movement speed to run down a target and delivering a wide stun on arrival. It's a direct and powerful combination that's difficult for opponents to play around.

This pairing defines the pace of the game. Early on, Grimstroke provides enough lane pressure and control to protect Alchemist and guarantee he gets the farm he needs. Once Alchemist has his key items, they can proactively look for fights. The threat of the Soulbind combo forces enemies to spread out, making them easier to isolate and pick off. This pressure denies the other team safe areas to farm and makes it difficult for them to coordinate any teamfight, letting Alchemist build an insurmountable lead.
