Alchemist + Kunkka

Why this works

Putting these two heroes on the same team creates a tension over map resources. Both Alchemist and Kunkka often want to be the ones farming waves and jungle camps to hit their core item timings. Alchemist needs this farm to leverage Greevil's Greed and accelerate into the mid-game, while a core Kunkka needs it for his own damage items. While Kunkka’s control from X Marks the Spot and Ghostship can certainly set up kills for a charging Alchemist, this doesn't resolve the fundamental issue of who gets priority on the map's gold.

This leads to games that feel very feast or famine. If your team creates a massive amount of space, there might be enough farm to go around, allowing Kunkka to control fights while a rich Alchemist runs everyone over. More commonly, however, they end up competing for safe areas to farm, especially if the lanes don't go well. This can lead to a stalled-out mid-game where neither hero has the items they need to take over, leaving the team with two half-ready cores and a very difficult path to victory.
