Why this works

Farming an early Aghanim's Scepter for Legion Commander can significantly accelerate her game plan. Alchemist's ability to generate gold lets him hand over this crucial item, reducing Duel's cooldown and allowing Legion to hunt for victims more frequently. This lets her scale her damage and take control of the map much earlier than she otherwise could. For Alchemist, it means a teammate is creating space for him to continue farming his own core items. A well-timed Unstable Concoction can also help set up a clean Duel, preventing the target from using spells or items to escape or turn the fight.

This strategy requires good execution and timing from both heroes. The goal is for Legion Commander to use her early power spike to make the map unsafe, which in turn protects Alchemist. If the enemy team manages to pressure Alchemist and slow down his farm, or if they group up to punish Legion's gank attempts, the plan can fall apart. The duo often feels like a race against time; they need to get their engine running before the opponent can organize a response and shut down one of their core components.
