How Alchemist and Skywrath Mage perform as teammates in Dota 2 7.41f, from ranked matches.
In Dota 2 7.41f, Alchemist and Skywrath Mage win 47.90% of ranked matches when playing on the same team, over 15,425 matches.
Getting hit by Unstable Concoction feels particularly bleak with a Skywrath Mage on the follow-up. Alchemist provides the exact lockdown needed for Skywrath to land his entire spell rotation without interruption. The silence from Ancient Seal prevents any item or spell escapes, and the magic amplification makes Mystic Flare lethal. Alchemist's Acid Spray can even help, softening the target for any physical damage needed to finish them off. It's a clean and effective ganking tool for picking off one hero.
The main issue is that these two heroes often want to play completely different games. Skywrath Mage comes online early and wants to constantly apply pressure, finding kills around the map to build a lead. Alchemist’s entire kit pushes him to farm nonstop to accelerate into his big item timings. For this pairing to work, Alchemist has to sacrifice some of his own farming efficiency to join fights. More often, he'll stay focused on his gold, leaving Skywrath without the setup he needs to be truly effective.
