Axe + Batrider

Why this works

Stacking a Flaming Lasso on top of a Berserker's Call is often a waste of control. The core issue is that both abilities are trying to do a similar job. If Batrider successfully pulls an enemy hero, Axe's best follow-up is to Call other nearby enemies, not the one already being dragged. On the other hand, if Axe gets a great multi-hero Call, Batrider pulling one target out of the clump can actually reduce Axe's total damage from Counter Helix spins. Their primary initiation spells don't really amplify each other, leading to situations where one hero's big play makes the other's feel less impactful.

Both Axe and Batrider typically want to buy a Blink Dagger and be the one to start the fight. This overlap in role and itemization means they can end up competing for the same position. The ideal teamfight for one hero isn't always the ideal one for the other. While having two sources of initiation is never terrible, it lacks the special synergy you see with other pairings. They function more like two independent heroes fighting near each other rather than a cohesive unit that sets up devastating combos. The result is a partnership that feels okay, but rarely amazing.
