Axe + Kunkka

Why this works

Picking these two heroes together isn't usually about planning a specific combo. The potential is there: a well-placed Berserker's Call from Axe can hold enemies in place for Kunkka to land a guaranteed Torrent and Ghostship. This can be a strong lockdown and burst sequence. The main issue is that their other abilities don't line up as well. Kunkka's X Marks the Spot is a powerful setup tool, but it doesn't really help Axe find a better initiation; they are two different ways to start a fight. The success of the combo relies entirely on that single Call-into-spells interaction.

Across the game, this pairing depends heavily on team coordination. If Axe blinks in and Kunkka is ready with his spells, you can delete a key target or control a teamfight. The damage reduction from Ghostship also gives Axe a much better chance of surviving after his Call ends. If the timing is off, however, Kunkka's spells will miss, leaving Axe deep in the enemy team alone. Because their laning and farming patterns don't particularly help each other, you're left banking on that teamfight execution, which can be inconsistent from one game to the next.
