Axe + Legion Commander

Why this works

Setting up a clean Duel is where this pair can find an advantage. Axe blinks in with Berserker's Call, holding several enemies in place while Legion Commander chooses her target. With the enemy team disabled, Legion can lock down a support or a core without fear of being interrupted by saves or stuns. This makes it much easier for her to secure Duel victories and start snowballing damage, which is her main goal for the mid-game. The taunt from Axe essentially removes any peel the enemy team might have for her chosen opponent.

However, both heroes often want the same role and farm priority, which can make for a greedy draft. Axe and Legion Commander both need an initiation tool like a Blink Dagger to make this combination work, and if one hero falls behind, the timing window can close. Enemies will also learn to spread out to minimize the impact of Berserker's Call, forcing the pair to find isolated targets instead of executing their ideal teamfight combo. This makes their effectiveness conditional on good coordination and the enemy's positioning.
