Axe + Sand King

Why this works

Facing this pair means dealing with two heroes who want to jump on you from the same spot. The core idea is simple: Axe blinks in and uses Berserker's Call, locking down several targets. This gives Sand King a perfect, stationary window to channel and land a full-damage Epicenter. An enemy hero caught in the Call is completely helpless against the incoming damage from Sand King. However, both heroes occupy a very similar role as melee Blink initiators, which can sometimes lead to redundancy if their primary combo doesn't connect or isn't needed.

The game plan for this duo lives and dies by their Blink Dagger timings. Once both Axe and Sand King have their core initiation items, they can start looking for pickoffs and teamfights with their combo. If they succeed, they can create immense pressure and space. If they fall behind or the enemy team plays spread out, their effectiveness drops sharply. Enemies will prioritize saves like Force Staff to break the combo, leaving the two initiators standing in the middle of a fight with their main trick spent and little else to offer each other.
