Batrider + Windranger

Why this works

Pairing these two heroes feels like it should guarantee kills on any single target, but their abilities actively conflict. Batrider wants to drag an enemy with Flaming Lasso, repositioning them for his team. This constant movement makes it incredibly difficult for Windranger to land a good Shackleshot, which needs a specific angle and a static target. Even if she skips the shackle, the Lasso drag can easily pull the target out of her attack range, cutting the Focus Fire channel short and wasting her primary damage source. The combo is much less reliable than it appears on paper.

In practice, this means ganks and initiations often fall apart. Batrider will successfully grab a priority target, but Windranger is forced into a bad position trying to keep up and deal damage. Instead of a quick kill, the enemy often survives the initial pull, and Batrider is left deep and exposed. Both heroes want to be the one to start a pick-off, but they don't enable each other's follow-up. They end up competing for the same job without providing the clean lockdown or burst needed to make it work consistently.
