Why this works

Scouting an area with Bounty Hunter lets Techies know exactly where to place his Proximity Mines for a pickoff. The vision from Shadow Walk gives Techies the confidence to set up in aggressive spots, and a Tracked target running away is a perfect setup for a Sticky Bomb or a preset mine stack. The bonus gold from successful kills also helps Techies build into his bigger damage and utility items. This gives your team a way to punish lone heroes and build an early lead by controlling parts of the map with vision and the threat of a sudden explosion.

However, this game plan is fairly easy to counter. Once opponents realize what you're doing, they will start moving as a group with Sentries, which severely limits the pickoff potential. The core tempos of these heroes can also conflict. Bounty Hunter wants to constantly move and find fights, while Techies needs time to set up his minefields. If the game doesn't go well early, you can be left with a Techies who has no safe space to lay traps and a Bounty Hunter who lacks the teamfight impact needed to turn a disadvantage around.
