Brewmaster + Lion

Why this works

Picking up kills together can be a little easier with this pairing. Brewmaster’s Cinder Brew helps set the stage for Lion to land his stuns and secure a kill with Finger of Death. The issue is that their forms of control can feel redundant. Once Brewmaster uses Primal Split, he already brings a huge amount of disruption and lockdown with his spirits. Adding Lion’s single-target stuns on top of that is certainly helpful, but it doesn't add a new capability to the teamfight; it just provides more of what Brewmaster already brings to the table.

In practice, this means they can succeed by finding isolated heroes to burst down before a fight begins. The mid-game can revolve around looking for those opportunities. In larger, more chaotic teamfights, however, their goals may not align perfectly. Brewmaster is focused on splitting up and controlling the entire enemy team, while Lion is trying to find and eliminate a single, high-priority target. If the enemy team plays defensively and stays grouped, it can be difficult for these two heroes to find the clean setup they need to feel like a cohesive unit.
