Bristleback + Outworld Destroyer

Why this works

Saving a focused Bristleback with Astral Imprisonment can be helpful, but it also removes your team's main damage sponge from the fight for a few seconds. This can easily backfire, leaving the squishy Outworld Destroyer exposed to the enemy's follow-up. While Bristleback soaking spells can drain enemy mana and potentially set up a stronger Sanity's Eclipse, the setup is indirect and unreliable. Both heroes want to take long fights to ramp their damage, but neither provides the hard lockdown needed to force those engagements or keep key targets in place for the other to finish off.

This leads to a game plan where each hero often has to fend for themselves. Bristleback runs at the enemy team, creating chaos, while Outworld Destroyer prefers a more controlled, static fight where he can safely deal damage. They don't naturally enable each other's strengths; Bristleback wants a partner who can hold people down, and OD wants a partner who can provide instant control and protection. It often falls to the other heroes on the team to connect their two very different playstyles, which makes their success together feel more situational than a consistent strategy.
