Bristleback + Sand King

Why this works

Pairing a tanky frontliner with a big area-of-effect initiator seems like an obvious win. Bristleback can draw all the attention, giving Sand King a free channel for Epicenter. The problem is that their ideal fight shapes can clash. Bristleback wants the enemy team to chase him while his back is turned, which often spreads them out. Sand King, on the other hand, needs enemies to be grouped up and preferably locked down for his Burrowstrike and ultimate to be most effective. The slow from Goo helps line things up, but it isn't the kind of hard setup that guarantees a perfect combo.

This means their teamfight success often relies more on the enemy making a mistake than on their own coordination. If opponents over-commit to killing Bristleback and clump together, Sand King gets a free win for that fight. A more disciplined team will either split up to dodge the damage or have someone ready to find and interrupt Sand King's channel. The pairing isn't bad, especially for ganks in the early game, but it doesn't create an advantage by itself. It’s a decent frontline and initiator duo, but not a self-contained strategy.
