Broodmother + Drow Ranger

Why this works

Thinking Drow Ranger's aura will buff the spider army is a common trap. Marksmanship only affects ranged heroes, so Broodmother's spiderlings get no damage bonus from it. This means a huge part of Drow's contribution to pushing and fighting is completely lost on Broodmother's main source of pressure. Instead of a swarm of empowered spiders melting objectives, you have two cores who want to hit buildings but whose kits don't actually amplify each other. They essentially play separate games on the same map, with little direct mechanical interaction between them.

This strategic disconnect often creates awkward game plans. Broodmother wants to take over a section of the map alone, forcing rotations into her webs. Drow Ranger prefers to group up with a defensive frontline that can keep enemies away so Marksmanship stays active. Broodmother doesn't provide the reliable peel or control Drow needs to survive being jumped on. The spider army is more of a chaotic swarm than a defensive wall. As a result, each hero is often left to fend for themselves, which can work out but offers no special advantage over any other standard draft.
