Broodmother + Phantom Assassin

Why this works

Drafting two purely physical damage cores often puts your team in an awkward position. Enemies can prioritize armor items and get full value against both Broodmother’s army and Phantom Assassin’s critical strikes. The pair also offers very little lockdown beyond a couple of slows, making it difficult to pin down mobile heroes. Both heroes are farm-intensive and want to occupy space to hit their item timings, but they don't do much to actively help each other get there. Broodmother taking over one side of the map creates space, but it's a generic benefit that doesn't uniquely enable PA.

This strategy can feel very all-or-nothing. The ideal scenario is Broodmother completely dominating her lane, forcing constant rotations and creating a huge safe zone for Phantom Assassin to farm for the late game. The more common outcome, however, is that the enemy team has enough wave clear to contain the Brood. This leaves your team with a weak mid-game, two cores who feel under-farmed, and a clear path for the enemy to itemize against you. The entire game rests on Broodmother’s start, making the outcome feel very unstable.
