Centaur Warrunner + Techies

Why this works

Picking these two together is a bet on a specific kind of initiation. Centaur Warrunner provides excellent setup for Techies with a well-placed Hoof Stomp, holding targets still for a guaranteed Sticky Bomb or to secure damage from a minefield. Stampede also gives the whole team, including a less mobile Techies, the speed to collapse on a target or escape a bad situation. The problem is that Centaur often wants to use his mobility to jump the enemy backline, which can pull the fight away from the defensive zones where Techies has already prepared his traps.

The outcome really depends on which hero gets to set the terms of engagement. If the enemy feels forced to run into an area Techies has wired up, a Centaur counter-initiation is incredibly effective. He can Stomp anyone who steps on a mine, preventing them from escaping the follow-up damage. On the other hand, if Centaur has to make a play on his own in the open map, Techies might only contribute a single spell from far away. The combo only really clicks when the fight comes to Techies; otherwise, they can feel like they're playing separate games.
