Crystal Maiden + Dark Willow

Why this works

Having both of these heroes on a team can slow your map presence down. Crystal Maiden and Dark Willow are both quite fragile and lack escape tools, which makes them easy targets for any coordinated gank. This vulnerability often forces them into a defensive posture, unable to safely place aggressive wards or make proactive rotations. While their control spells can chain together effectively—a Frostbite leading into a Cursed Crown, for example—they have a hard time surviving if an enemy gets the jump on them first. Mobile heroes can exploit this weakness repeatedly, starving your cores of space.

During the laning phase, this duo can create kill opportunities with their combined roots and stuns, but they are easily punished by more durable opponents. Their success in teamfights depends heavily on staying alive long enough to use their spells. A combo like Freezing Field and Bedlam can deal immense damage, but it requires perfect positioning and protection from teammates. If the enemy team is built to dive the back line, both Crystal Maiden and Dark Willow will have a difficult game. It often becomes a race to see if they can land their spells before they get picked off.
