Why this works

Getting caught out of position against this pair can feel impossible to escape from. Crystal Maiden provides the initial setup with either her Frostbite root or the Crystal Nova slow, making it straightforward for Hoodwink to land a follow-up Bushwhack stun. This chain of control holds a target in place long enough for both to unload their damage, often securing a kill or forcing the enemy back to base. Hoodwink also benefits from Crystal Maiden's Arcane Aura, as it helps sustain the mana needed to constantly harass with Acorn Shot and be ready for a fight.

This lane's strength is entirely dependent on getting the first move. The shared weakness of this duo is that both heroes are incredibly fragile and can be deleted if they are the ones who get initiated on. A support duo with multiple stuns or high burst damage can run them over early. Later in the game, both Crystal Maiden and Hoodwink remain high-priority targets that enemy cores will look to burst down first. Their game plan relies on setting up picks from the trees, while their opponents win by finding and deleting them before a fight can even begin.
