Crystal Maiden + Lion

Why this works

Drafting two fragile, spell-casting supports is a gamble. The upside with this pair is Crystal Maiden’s Arcane Aura, which lets a typically mana-starved Lion use his spells more aggressively. This opens up opportunities for long lockdown chains, where one hero’s disable perfectly sets up the other’s. A target caught by Earth Spike is an easy target for Frostbite, keeping them pinned down for an ally to finish the job. This creates a lot of kill pressure on a single hero during the laning phase and beyond.

The shared weakness, however, is that both Crystal Maiden and Lion are slow, fragile targets themselves. They rely on good positioning to execute their combo. A mobile enemy core that can close the distance quickly can often burst one of them down before they can react, breaking the chain. Success for this duo often comes down to whether they can initiate on their terms. When they get caught out of position, their lack of escape tools means they provide very little resistance, creating an all-or-nothing dynamic from the mid-game onward.
