Crystal Maiden + Pangolier

Why this works

Setting up for a big fight with this pair can look good on paper, but their main abilities often work at cross-purposes. Pangolier creates chaos with Rolling Thunder, knocking enemies back and scattering them across the area. This directly conflicts with Crystal Maiden’s Freezing Field, which does its best work when enemies are grouped up and held in place. While a Frostbite can certainly hold one target down for a Swashbuckle, the core teamfight plan is a clash. Pango wants to move people around, and CM needs them to stay still.

This dynamic leads to inconsistent engagements. A Pangolier initiation might spread the enemy team too thin for a good Crystal Maiden ultimate. Worse, a badly aimed roll can push enemies right out of an active Freezing Field, effectively saving them. Success depends more on improvisation than a clean setup. The lane works when Pango can pin enemies inside the ultimate or create enough disruption for CM to channel safely on a key target, but it fails when their spells actively negate each other, leading to a coin-flip outcome.
