Dark Willow + Lion

Why this works

Putting both Dark Willow and Lion on the same team creates a major resource problem from the start. Both are greedy supports who need levels and items to be effective, but they compete for the same limited farm on the map. This means at least one of them, and often both, will be significantly delayed on key timings like a Blink Dagger for Lion. Their spell kits also have a lot of overlap without strong synergy. While you can chain Earth Spike into Cursed Crown, it's a huge commitment of resources to kill a single target, leaving the duo with little to offer against the rest of the enemy team.

This weakness shows up right from the laning phase, where the duo is fragile and easily pressured, often leading to a lost tower and an early map control deficit. Playing from behind, both Dark Willow and Lion struggle to find the space they need to catch up. The enemy team can capitalize on this by grouping up and forcing fights around objectives. The pair can blow up one hero, but they lack the wave clear or defensive tools to hold a high-ground defense against a coordinated push.
