Dark Willow + Muerta

Why this works

Layering control with Cursed Crown and Bramble Maze can give Muerta a window to attack, but the pair's offensive tools can be too similar. When Muerta activates Pierce the Veil, her damage becomes entirely magical. This aligns with Dark Willow's own magical burst from Bedlam. The problem is that this makes it very straightforward for opponents to itemize against the duo. A single Pipe of Insight or multiple Glimmer Capes on the enemy team will blunt the impact of both heroes' biggest damage spikes, making their combined output feel less threatening than the sum of its parts.

Early on, their lane presence can be decent, but they lack the tools for consistent kills against tougher opponents. As the game progresses, both Dark Willow and Muerta want to operate from the back lines, which can create issues if their team lacks a solid frontline initiator. If they can't get the jump on isolated targets, they are vulnerable to being run at and burst down before they can deploy their full kits. Their success often relies on the enemy team composition being as fragile as they are, or on having another core who can absorb pressure and create space.
