Why this works

Setting up kills with Cursed Crown on a target lets Techies land a guaranteed Sticky Bomb and follow up with Blast Off!. Dark Willow can also use Bramble Maze to hold someone in place for a mine. This chain of disables is their main strength. The problem is that the stun from Crown has a long delay, giving enemies or their allies a window to use a dispel, a save, or simply move away from the target to avoid the secondary stun. This makes their primary setup less reliable than it appears, especially against coordinated opponents.

Early on, this duo can apply heavy pressure and secure kills if the enemy lane lacks an immediate answer. Later in the game, their plans can diverge. Techies often wants to play defensively, mining high ground or objectives, while Dark Willow may prefer to move around the map looking for pickoffs. When they are grouped for a fight, both heroes are very squishy backliners. A coordinated dive can take them both out before they can execute their full combo, meaning their success often depends on who gets the jump on whom.
