Dawnbreaker + Hoodwink

Why this works

Getting caught in the trees by a Hoodwink's Bushwhack can create a difficult situation. This lockdown provides a perfect opening for Dawnbreaker to land a full Starbreaker combo, applying a lot of pressure to a single hero. The combo requires some coordination and specific positioning near trees, which Hoodwink can create herself with Acorn Shot. Additionally, Dawnbreaker’s Solar Guardian can be a reliable way to save Hoodwink if she gets caught out while scouting, or to join a long-range fight initiated by Sharpshooter. The pieces for a good gank are there, but they don't always fall into place.

This duo relies on getting kills during the laning stage and early mid-game. When they're ahead, Hoodwink can safely play on the edges of a fight, using her slows and stuns to set up for Dawnbreaker to charge in. The whole plan can fizzle out, though. If opponents play in open areas away from trees, Hoodwink's setup becomes much less reliable. Teams with strong saves or multiple ways to disengage can also easily separate the two, leaving Dawnbreaker to be kited and a fragile Hoodwink to be picked off. This pairing's success often depends on whether they can execute their initial combo.
