How Death Prophet and Skywrath Mage perform as teammates in Dota 2 7.41f, from ranked matches.
In Dota 2 7.41f, Death Prophet and Skywrath Mage win 48.89% of ranked matches when playing on the same team, over 18,000 matches.
Stacking Death Prophet’s Silence on top of a target already hit by Ancient Seal is often redundant, and it points to a deeper conflict in their playstyles. Skywrath Mage wants to stay far back, find a single locked-down hero, and unload his spells for an instant burst kill. Death Prophet needs to be the opposite: a frontline presence running at the enemy with Exorcism and Spirit Siphon to deal sustained damage. This positioning clash forces a choice. The team either plays around Skywrath’s long-range pickoff potential or commits to DP’s five-man brawl, but it’s hard to do both at once. As a result, one hero is frequently out of position to contribute fully.
