Why this works

Picking these two often creates a draft puzzle with no elegant solution. Both Dragon Knight and Windranger thrive with farm and levels, usually from a core role. While Dragon Tail provides a perfect setup for a follow-up Shackleshot, that’s where their direct interaction usually ends. Their abilities are self-contained; they don't amplify each other's damage or cover fundamental weaknesses. You end up with two heroes who both want to be the team's single-target initiator and damage dealer, leading to redundancy and a competition for resources across the map rather than a compounding of strengths.

This pairing can look strong when ganking a lone hero or pushing an undefended tower. Dragon Knight provides the frontline durability and a stun, and Windranger brings the single-target burst with Focus Fire. The plan falls apart against coordinated teams. The duo lacks the area-of-effect control needed to manage a full teamfight, making them easy to split or overwhelm. Dragon Knight will try to siege objectives head-on, but Windranger needs to find specific angles and isolated targets, meaning they often operate on separate wavelengths when a real fight breaks out.
