Drow Ranger + Sand King

Why this works

Setting up a kill with Burrowstrike gives Drow Ranger a clean window to attack, but the dynamic gets awkward immediately after. Sand King wants to channel Epicenter in the middle of the enemy team to maximize its impact, which is usually deep in the fight. This often leaves Drow without a frontliner, as Sand King’s primary goal pulls him far away from the back line where she needs to be positioned. While the Epicenter slow can help her kite, it doesn't create the stable, defensive wall that allows her to stand her ground and deal consistent damage.

This pairing often struggles in five-on-five engagements. If Sand King is the team's main initiator, his dive leaves Drow Ranger exposed to the enemy's counter-initiation. Opponents can often survive the initial stun and simply walk past the epicenter of the fight to collapse on the isolated Drow. The success of this lane rests on having other heroes who can stand in front and peel for her after Sand King has used his abilities. Without that specific support, what looks like a good setup on paper frequently falls apart once the initial stun wears off.
