Earthshaker + Pudge

Why this works

Setting up a Meat Hook with a long-range Fissure seems like a classic ganking combination, but the execution is often clumsy. A poorly angled Fissure from Earthshaker can easily block the very hook it was meant to enable, saving the target instead of securing the kill. Both heroes are melee initiators who want to roam and find pickoffs, which can lead to a greedy draft. They end up competing for the same space on the map and the same opportunities to start a fight, which can leave the rest of the team vulnerable if a gank goes wrong.

This pairing lives or dies on coordination. An early game where Earthshaker and Pudge land their spells can create a lot of pressure and snowball into a strong mid-game. When they fail, however, both heroes are left out of position with long cooldowns, accomplishing little. In larger teamfights, their combined control from Aftershock and Dismember can be effective, but that risk of a misplaced Fissure always looms. The outcome really depends on whether the players can execute their difficult combo perfectly, as there's little natural overlap to fall back on.
