Why this works

Pairing these two heroes often looks better on paper than it feels in-game. Earthshaker and Sand King both want to be the primary initiator who jumps in with a Blink Dagger. This creates a redundancy where they compete for the same role and farm priority. A perfect chain stun of Fissure into Burrowstrike is possible, but it’s easy to overlap them, wasting crucial lockdown. More often, one hero is ready to go while the other is still out of position or hasn't finished channeling Epicenter, making the big teamfight moment less clean than you’d hope.

This dynamic means the team can feel a bit weak until two Blink Daggers are online, which is a significant investment. In fights, the combo can lack the focused damage to eliminate a priority target after the stuns are over. While the sheer amount of area control is undeniable, it's often more control than the team can capitalize on. Other lineups might prefer a single initiator paired with a hero that provides sustained damage or saves, which feels more balanced than having two heroes trying to do the same job.
