Earthshaker + Ursa

Why this works

Picking this pair together means hoping Earthshaker's lockdown will set up kills for Ursa, but the execution is tricky. While a Fissure can trap a target for Ursa to attack, it can also create a barrier that blocks him from his victim. Both heroes are melee and want to be in the center of the fight, but Earthshaker's primary initiation tool can easily get in his own carry's way. An enemy stunned on the wrong side of the wall is often an enemy that gets away, leaving Ursa with no way to build up Fury Swipes.

The success of the lane and early ganks depends heavily on the Earthshaker player's positioning and Fissure placement. A perfect cast seals a kill, but a slightly off-center one can ruin it. As the game goes on, Ursa often finds himself needing to path around terrain his own teammate created. While a big Echo Slam can set up fights well, Ursa players generally prefer simpler stuns or slows that don't risk walling them off from a target they are trying to run down.
