Ember Spirit + Kunkka

Why this works

Stacking two flashy, playmaking cores seems like a good idea, but it often creates a resource conflict. Both Ember Spirit and Kunkka thrive on having space and farm to hit their key item timings. When they're on the same team, they can end up competing for the safest and most efficient farm on the map. Their spell combinations also aren't as straightforward as they appear. Kunkka provides a delayed, area-of-effect setup with Torrent and Ghostship, while Ember's Searing Chains requires a nearby target for its lockdown. They don't naturally chain their abilities together for a guaranteed kill.

As the game progresses, this lack of inherent synergy becomes more apparent. Both heroes want to initiate fights, but they do so in different ways. Ember Spirit prefers to poke with Sleight of Fist and find an opening to jump in, whereas Kunkka wants to orchestrate a big teamfight around his combo. This can lead to moments where one hero is ready to fight but the other isn't in position or doesn't have the right angle. The result is often a pair of strong heroes playing their own games on the same team, rather than a cohesive unit working toward a single plan.
