Ember Spirit + Lina

Why this works

Trying to lock down a single target often feels clumsy with this pair. Lina needs time to land her Light Strike Array, and Ember Spirit's Searing Chains is most reliable when he has a pre-existing stun to play off of. Without a third hero providing that lockdown, they struggle to chain their spells together. They both bring a massive amount of burst damage, but it's hard to apply effectively when the enemy can simply walk away after the first hit. They end up competing for the same setup role without either being able to provide it for the other.

This lack of reliable control creates problems all game. Early ganks can fizzle out, letting targets escape with low health. In mid-game teamfights, the responsibility for initiation falls entirely on your other teammates. An opponent with good positioning or a simple escape item can often nullify the kill threat from both Ember and Lina. Their team is forced to play a very specific, all-in burst style, hoping to blow up targets before they can react, because they lack the tools for a prolonged, controlled engagement.
