Ember Spirit + Pangolier

Why this works

Setting up a clean kill can be surprisingly awkward for this pair. Pangolier's Rolling Thunder is great for initiation, but it displaces enemies in ways that make it difficult for Ember Spirit to land a good Searing Chains. Instead of a guaranteed lockdown, you often get a messy scramble. Both heroes also rely heavily on magic burst in the mid-game, which allows opponents to counter the whole strategy with a single Pipe of Insight, heavily reducing the damage output from both cores at once.

As the game progresses, these two cores often want to occupy the same parts of the map and farm the same camps to hit their timings. This competition for resources can slow both heroes down. While they have high mobility for joining fights, their lack of reliable, targeted lockdown and their overlapping damage profiles means they can struggle to secure kills against durable heroes. The plan is for one to create chaos for the other to clean up, but often the enemy can simply endure the disruption and walk away.
