Ember Spirit + Phantom Assassin

Why this works

Thinking two high-damage, mobile heroes will dominate the map can be a trap. Both Ember Spirit and Phantom Assassin want to be the primary damage dealer, farming aggressively and securing kills. The problem is that neither provides the reliable lockdown the other needs to guarantee a kill. Ember's Searing Chains is conditional and won't always hold a target in place, while PA's Stifling Dagger slow is often not enough to prevent an escape. They can apply a lot of pressure and damage together, but they lack a hard stun to initiate on their own terms.

This dynamic often results in two cores competing for the same farm and space on the map. During the mid-game, they might find success picking off lone heroes, but they can struggle against opponents who stick together. Lacking a strong, built-in setup means enemies can often get away with a Force Staff or by simply teleporting out. The success of this pairing depends more on one of the cores getting a massive individual lead rather than on their kits naturally complementing each other for teamfights.
