Ember Spirit + Windranger

Why this works

Setting up a kill with this pair often looks better on paper than it does in practice. The idea is for Windranger's Shackleshot to hold a target down for Ember Spirit's damage, but the combo can be clumsy. Ember wants to initiate aggressively, while Windranger needs a specific angle and a second unit for her stun to land reliably. If the Shackle misses or is short, the target often escapes before Ember can apply Searing Chains and finish them off. They both want to burst the same hero, but they don't consistently provide the hard lockdown that the other needs to guarantee a kill.

Across the game, this duo can feel a bit redundant. Both heroes want to be active, playing on the edges of fights and picking off stray targets, which can leave your team without a solid frontline or a big area-of-effect ultimate to control engagements. While Ember Spirit and Windranger can sometimes coordinate to delete a single enemy, they often end up playing separate games on the same map. This can force the rest of the team to provide all the initiation and control, which is often too much to ask.
