Why this works

Playing against this pair makes finding safe positions on the map difficult. Riki's permanent invisibility provides scouting that can create an opening for Faceless Void to land a more effective Chronosphere, catching someone who thought they were safe. Once targets are locked down, Riki has a window to position for Tricks of the Trade. While Void controls key enemies, Riki can contribute his area damage without immediately being targeted or disabled, which is the usual response to his aggression. This gives the team a straightforward method for combining their ultimates.

The duo's impact isn't felt in the laning stage, as both heroes are usually focused on farming their own items. Their threat level rises in the mid-game, where Riki's scouting can be converted into kills with Chronosphere. An enemy team has to make tough decisions about their positioning, as grouping up can make them vulnerable to both heroes' area damage, while spreading out makes them easier targets for pickoffs. The counter-play is to establish heavy vision control and try to force engagements while Void's ultimate is unavailable.
