Why this works

Catching multiple heroes with an Ink Swell stun is the perfect setup for this pair. It guarantees Keeper of the Light can land a fully channeled Illuminate for massive area damage that enemies have no way to escape. The lockdown from Grimstroke is simple and effective, turning one of the most telegraphed nukes in the game into a reliable weapon. On top of the combo, Keeper of the Light's Chakra Magic solves all of Grimstroke’s mana problems. This allows Grimstroke to constantly use his spells for harass and control, making him a menace from the very start of the lane.

This duo can control the map's tempo from early on, shoving waves and threatening towers simply by showing up together. Enemies are forced to play spread out to avoid getting caught by the Ink Swell, which makes it harder for them to coordinate their own attacks. They also have to save a disable specifically for Keeper of the Light to interrupt his channel, making their own initiations predictable. If the enemy team lacks the instant lockdown to stop Illuminate, a single combo from these two can win a fight before it even begins.
