Jakiro + Pudge

Why this works

Pairing these two heroes often looks better on paper than it feels in-game. The core idea is simple: Jakiro lands an Ice Path, giving Pudge a free Meat Hook on a stationary target. It works the other way too, with a good Hook pulling an enemy right into range for Dual Breath and a follow-up stun. While this can secure a kill, both heroes are primarily offering control. They end up overlapping more than they complement. Pudge often wants a partner who brings massive burst damage to capitalize on a Hook, while Jakiro's damage-over-time spells are less immediate.

This combo puts a lot of pressure on landing that first skillshot. In lane, a successful Hook or Ice Path can lead to a kill, but a miss leaves two slow heroes vulnerable to being poked out or kited. They also risk pushing the wave with Rot and Dual Breath, creating an unsafe lane position. As the game progresses, their single-target lockdown is still a threat, but the success of the entire game plan often depends on Pudge finding that one perfect initiation. If the enemy team is spread out or has good saves, the duo can feel like they lack the tools to consistently win fights.
