Why this works

Getting caught by this pair's slows and damage-over-time spells is a miserable laning experience. The obvious combination of Jakiro's Ice Path into Snapfire's Mortimer Kisses looks powerful, especially with a Macropyre layered on top. In practice, however, they both offer a similar flavor of area control and magic damage. This makes them predictable. An opponent facing this duo knows that building magic resistance will go a long way, as neither hero provides much of a threat outside their main spell combos. The tools they share can feel a bit redundant.

Their lane presence is often strong, but this advantage can fade as the game progresses. Both heroes typically want to sit in the back and contribute area damage to a fight, which works until an enemy with a Black King Bar decides to run straight at them. The duo lacks a natural initiator or a hard save, so they rely on their team to provide that structure. Without it, they can struggle to convert their strong teamfight spells into objectives, as mobile enemies can often pick their own fights and avoid the zones of fire and ice.
