Kez + Skywrath Mage

Why this works

Playing against this duo often feels like you get to choose how the fight goes. Kez is built to win a long, drawn-out duel where he can use his parries and stance swaps to outmaneuver one person. Skywrath Mage needs to unload all his spells, especially Mystic Flare, on a target that's already locked down and can't move. The issue is that neither hero provides the setup the other needs. Skywrath's silence isn't the hard stun Kez wants to start a fight, and Kez is more of a skirmisher than a frontliner who can hold someone in place.

This fundamental disconnect makes the game difficult. Laning feels weak because there's no reliable control to secure kills. Later on, Kez naturally wants to split off to find solo pickoffs, while Skywrath needs his team grouped to protect him and set up his damage. When they do have to fight together, enemies can often walk past Kez to kill the fragile Skywrath, or simply turn on Kez and burst him down before he can get into his rhythm. They're two damage-dealers waiting for an initiator that isn't there.
