Kunkka + Shadow Fiend

Why this works

Setting up kills with Kunkka's X Marks the Spot combo feels like it should be perfect for Shadow Fiend, but it rarely lines up. The combo forces Shadow Fiend to be in a very specific spot at a specific time to land Requiem of Souls or successive Shadowrazes. More often than not, both heroes end up using their full spell rotations on the one target caught by X, which is inefficient. Kunkka provides a strong single-target setup, but Shadow Fiend often wants to find his own angle to hit multiple enemies at once, making the forced positioning of the combo more restrictive than helpful.

This awkwardness extends to their overall game plan. Both heroes are greedy cores that want to farm heavily to hit a mid-game power spike. With both Kunkka and Shadow Fiend on the map, they compete for the same resources and have similar timings. This leaves the team vulnerable and can lead to a lineup that lacks hard, reliable lockdown or defensive utility. If one hero falls behind, the other has a very similar kit and can't easily cover the team's weaknesses, resulting in two glass cannons that are easily broken when focused.
