Kunkka + Pudge

Why this works

Picking these two together often comes down to hoping for the classic spell combination. The idea is that a Meat Hook from Pudge creates a perfect setup for Kunkka’s Torrent, or X Marks the Spot guarantees a Hook will land. In reality, this requires a lot of coordination to pull off. Both spells have their own delays and positioning needs, and a mistimed combo leaves both heroes out of position with key abilities on cooldown. They are both melee strength cores who want to be in the middle of fights, but they don't provide much that the other is truly lacking.

Across the game, this pairing lives and dies by that initial gank potential. If the combo works, it can secure kills and build momentum. If it fails, they can feel like two solo heroes playing in the same area. In larger teamfights, their goals can conflict. Kunkka wants to land a big cleave and Ghostship on multiple heroes, while Pudge is looking for a single-target pickoff with Dismember. They don't really protect each other or enable each other beyond that one specific spell interaction, making their performance together feel inconsistent from one game to the next.
